| It's time to take
action whether it's riding
to the shop, being more
organised when planning
trips, or finding out
about your public transport
options. |

| Smart
ideas to help you escape
the car addiction... |
| |
| On
your bike Cycling
creates minimal emissions
and the obvious fitness
benefits make it a sustainability
winner. Start with riding
to the dairy, small trips
around your neighbourhood
then perhaps riding to
work, especially during
daylight saving. |
- Cycling the streets
of Auckland can be
a challenge but MAXX
makes it easier with
a range of maps to
help you find cycle-friendly
routes around the
Auckland region.
|
- Want to be part
of the solution? Consider
joining Cycle
Action Auckland.
The group focuses
on making Auckland
a safer and easier
place to ride.
|
- Free public bike
lockers are available
close to some train
and bus stations around
Auckland. Currently
there are 46 lockers
in six locations:
North Shore (Albany
Park and Constellation
Park), the Glenn Innes,
Papatoetoe and Manurewa
train stations and
the New Lynn bus station.
This is an initiative
by MAXX to better
integrate public transport
and cycling.

| Driving
habits If you do
have to get behind the
wheel start thinking about
how you drive. Your driving
habits can help reduce
your emissions and save
you money. Avoid fast
acceleration and heavy
braking, and keep your
car regularly serviced
and your tyres inflated.

| Public
Transport Lost
faith in catching a bus
or train? Well it's worth
giving it another chance.
If you're still not satisfied
- take action. Campaign
for Better Transport
is a voluntary organisation,
which aims to be a strong
and persistent advocate
for alternatives to the
private car - including
public transport, cycling
and walking. Find out
what you can do to make
a change for the better. |

| Your
own two feet We've
become so used to the
convenience of the car
that we often make unnecessary
short trips without thinking.
Strolling to the local
shop to get the paper
and the milk allows you
to see what's going on
in your neighbourhood,
while perhaps walking
the dog and getting the
kids out of the house. |
